吾豈不能從心所欲、處吾之所有乎？吾之慷慨、乃使爾側目耶？」

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?

Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my business? Are you jealous because I’m generous?’

For he says to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.For the Scripture says to Pharaoh,“ For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.You will say to me then,“ Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder,“ Why have you made me like this?”Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?

but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.

A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty will come upon him.

“ It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, my servant, and I have given him also the beasts of the field to serve him.All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his own land comes. Then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.

Yet the Lord God of Israel chose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel forever. For he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah my father’s house, and among my father’s sons he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.And of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons) he has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—
