saying,‘ These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’

说：‘这些最后来的人只工作了一个小时，而我们经受了一天的劳累和炎热，你却把他们和我们同等看待！’

『我們整天勞苦受熱，那些後來的只做了一小時，你竟待他們和我們一樣嗎？』

『那些最晚來的人只工作了一小時，而我們在烈日之下辛苦了一整天，怎麼會領同樣的工錢呢？』

‘我們整天在烈日之下勞苦，這些後來的人只工作了一個小時，你卻給他們跟我們一樣的工錢。’

說：「這些末後的作了一個鐘頭的工，你竟讓他們跟我們這擔受一天之重擔和熱氣的平等呀！」

說：『這些最後來的人只工作了一個小時，而我們經受了一天的勞累和炎熱，你卻把他們和我們同等看待！』

我終日任勞當暑、後至者、僅工作片時、乃使之與我等耶、

我當暑、終日任勞、後至者、僅片時工作、乃使之與我等乎、

我儕終日負苦當暑、彼後至者、工作僅半時、爾竟使之與我相等乎、

「我儕辛勞終日、備嘗炎蒸；斯輩後進、工僅半晷、何與我儕一律待遇耶？」

‘ These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said,‘ and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’

‘ These people who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said.‘ You have paid them the same as us. We have done most of the work and have been in the hot sun all day.’

‘ Those people worked only one hour, and yet you’ve paid them just as much as you paid us who worked all day in the scorching heat.’

‘ These last men put in one hour, and you made them equal to us who bore the burden of the day’s work and the burning heat.’

saying,‘ These who were hired last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day’s work and the scorching heat.’

saying,‘ These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’

saying, These last have spent but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.

‘ These last men put in one hour, and you made them equal to us who bore the burden of the day and the burning heat!’

Saying, These last have wrought[ but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

saying,‘ These last fellows worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us who bore the hardship and burning heat of the day.’

saying,‘ These last have spent one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat!’

So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one— I am talking like a madman— with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death.Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one.Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea;on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers;in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.

And when you see the south wind blowing, you say,‘ There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens.

But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you,‘ Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

But you say,‘ What a weariness this is,’ and you snort at it, says the Lord of hosts. You bring what has been taken by violence or is lame or sick, and this you bring as your offering! Shall I accept that from your hand? says the Lord.

Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

saying to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts and the prophets,“ Should I weep and abstain in the fifth month, as I have done for so many years?”Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me:“ Say to all the people of the land and the priests,‘ When you fasted and mourned in the fifth month and in the seventh, for these seventy years, was it for me that you fasted?

What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith;but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law.Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,

The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’

but he answered his father,‘ Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.‘ Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

since God is one— who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless,

You have said,‘ It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts?

When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint. And he asked that he might die and said,“ It is better for me to die than to live.”
