He sent them to Bethlehem and said,“ Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

乃窺之、遣偵者、偽為義人、欲即其言、解與方伯、按治之、遂問曰、先生、我知爾所言所傳皆正、不以貌取人、乃以誠傳上帝道者也、

詰旦有八十人、自示僉、示羅、撒馬利亞、而至、薙鬢裂衣、自毀其身、攜香品禮物、欲詣耶和華殿遺址。尼大尼子以實馬利哭泣於途、出密士巴境迎之、曰、請爾來見亞希甘子其大利、既至邑中、尼大尼子以實馬利率眾殺之、投尸於井、

異邦人設謀、耶和華敗之、使計不成兮。耶和華之旨永在、其意不易兮。

狡者敗其謀、使事不遂、譎者巧於計、反害及身、謀愈狡者、敗愈速、

猶大便雅憫二族之敵、聞被虜者歸而建殿、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華、則詣所羅把伯、與族中最著者、曰、我宗事爾之上帝、與爾無異、自亞述王以撒哈頓、使我至此迄今、祭司匪懈、故欲與爾同建斯殿。

耶洗別遣人告以利亞曰、如於明日斯時、我不殺爾、若爾殺彼者、則願上帝降罰於我。

逵衢之間、恆有惡黨、或行詭譎、或尚詐偽。今有人焉、矜詡侮予、非予寇讎、非予仇隙、設或是之、猶可隱忍、杜門不出、予知斯人、乃予同儔、乃予密友、昔與心交、同詣上帝之室、今彼第宅、惡人充盈、願彼速亡、墮於幽冥。

未得主命、誰能言而有應兮。

越四年、押沙龍請於王曰、昔我於耶和華前曾許其願、今欲往希伯崙以酬、王其許我。初爾臣僕、居亞蘭之其述、曾許願曰、如耶和華使我歸耶路撒冷、我必服事耶和華。王曰、可安然以去。乃往希伯崙。押沙龍預遣數人、以偵動靜、遍行以色列族諸支派、曰、爾聞角聲、則呼押沙龍在希伯崙為王。押沙龍自耶路撒冷招二百人偕行、此眾秉性質樸、不識其謀為不軌。亞希多弗、其祿人也、嘗為大闢議士、斯時獻祭於其祿、押沙龍召之與謀、於是叛黨日強、從者愈眾。

彼世人兮、言而不實、厥口諂諛兮、二三其德。啟口兮諂媚、掉舌兮矜誇、彼其之子兮、見絕於耶和華、

賣師者遞以號曰、我接吻者是也、可執之、即就耶穌曰、夫子安、遂與接吻、

押沙龍及以色列族眾曰、亞其人戶篩之議、較亞希多弗尤善。蓋耶和華欲廢亞希多弗議、以敗押沙龍。

維彼敵人、心所藏惟詐、口所言惟偽。其言雖善、爾毋信之、其心所藏可惡者非一端。

耶戶集民眾、告曰、亞哈服事巴力、尚未勤也、耶戶將事之尤勤。今我必獻大祭、奉事巴力、故當集巴力諸先知、祭司、僕役、不遺一人、有不至者殺毋赦。耶戶言此、蓋欺人也、欲滅崇拜巴力之人耳。

蓋此世之智、上帝以為不智、經云、主令智者自中其詭計、又曰、主知智人之意不實、

耶和華有旨必行、非詭謀所能撓。

人言大闢甚為機巧、爾可預備、往觀其所、匿於何方、果誰見焉。如其藏身之地、知之甚確、則來告我、我偕爾往、若彼在猶大郡中、我必遍索之。
