The Lord nullifies the plan of nations; He frustrates the plans of peoples.The plan of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation.

He frustrates the schemes of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.He captures the wise by their own cleverness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.

Now when the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the people of the exile were building a temple to the Lord God of Israel,they approached Zerubbabel and the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them,“ Let us build with you, for like you, we seek your God; and we have been sacrificing to Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

And the conspiracy was strong, for the people continually increased with Absalom.

They speak lies to one another; They speak with flattering lips and a double heart.May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things;

Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign previously, saying,“ Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him.”And immediately Judas went up to Jesus and said,“ Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said,“ The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to foil the good advice of Ahithophel, in order for the Lord to bring disaster on Absalom.

One who hates disguises it with his lips, But he harbors deceit in his heart.When he speaks graciously, do not believe him, Because there are seven abominations in his heart.

Then Jehu gathered all the people and said to them,“ Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.Now, summon to me all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers and all his priests; let no one go missing, because I have a great sacrifice for Baal; whoever is missing shall not live.” But Jehu did it in deception, in order to eliminate the worshipers of Baal.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. For it is written:“ He is the one who catches the wise by their craftiness”;and again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are useless.”

There is no wisdom, no understanding, And no plan against the Lord.

Go now, be more persistent, and investigate and see his place where he is hiding, and who has seen him there; for I am told that he is very cunning.So look, and learn about all the hiding places where he keeps himself hidden, and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
