遣其赴百利恆曰：『爾且往究嬰孩虛實、訪得回報、吾亦欲朝拜也。』

He sent them to Bethlehem and said,“ Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

於是，他們密切注意，派了一些奸細裝做好人，要抓耶穌的話柄，好把他交在總督的管理和權柄之下。那些奸細問耶穌，說：「老師，我們知道你所說所教導的都是對的，你也不顧人的情面，而是按真理教導神的道。

耶和華破壞列國的謀略，挫敗萬民的意念。耶和華的謀略確立，直到永遠；他心裡的意念存到萬代。

奸惡在城中，欺壓和詭詐不離它的街市。其實不是仇敵辱罵我——如果是，我還可以承受；也不是恨我的人在我面前高抬自己——如果是，我還可以躲藏。但竟然是你，是與我一樣的人，是我的同伴、我的知己！我們曾經一起親密交流，與會眾一起走在神的殿中。願死亡突然毀滅他們，願他們活活下到陰間！因為惡事在他們的住處，就在他們當中。

過了四年，押沙龍對王說：「請讓我去希伯崙向耶和華還我所許的願。因為僕人住在亞蘭的基述時許了一個願，說：『如果耶和華讓我再回到耶路撒冷，我就敬拜耶和華。』」王對他說：「平平安安地去吧！」他就起身，往希伯崙去了。押沙龍派遣探子到以色列所有的支派中，說：「你們一聽見號角聲，就要說：『押沙龍在希伯崙作王了！』」有兩百個人隨同押沙龍從耶路撒冷前去，他們受邀請，很單純地去了，什麼事情都不知道。押沙龍獻祭的時候，派人去把大衛的謀士基羅人亞希多弗從他的本城基羅請了來。於是謀反勢力強大起來，擁護押沙龍的民眾越來越多。

人人向鄰舍說謊，他們說話油嘴滑舌，心懷二意。願耶和華剪除一切油滑的嘴唇和說大話的舌頭！

那出賣耶穌的人已經和他們定了一個暗號，說：「我如果親吻誰，誰就是那個人。你們把他抓住。」猶大立刻上前來對耶穌說：「拉比，願你歡喜！」然後親吻了他。

押沙龍和以色列眾人都說：「亞基人戶篩的建議比亞希多弗的建議好。」耶和華定意要破壞亞希多弗的好建議，好降災禍給押沙龍。

懷恨人的，用言語掩飾自己，心裡卻存著詭詐。他說的再好聽，也不要相信他，因為他的心裡有七樣可憎之事。

因為在神看來，這世界的智慧就是愚拙；原來經上記著：「神使智慧人落入自己的詭計中」；又說：「主知道智慧人的思想是虛妄的。」

任何的智慧、聰慧和謀略，都無法在耶和華面前站立得住。

請你們去再次確認，查看他的落腳之處，有誰在那裡看到他，因為有人對我說，他非常狡猾。你們要查清他躲藏的所有地方，確定後回來見我，我就與你們一同去。如果他在那地方，我就把他從猶大的千家萬戶中搜出來。」
