Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read,“ Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”

Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.

They answered him,“ Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them,“ I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.

Is it not indeed so, O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.“ But you made the Nazirites drink wine, and commanded the prophets, saying,‘ You shall not prophesy.’

“ And this is the law for the Nazirite, when the time of his separation has been completed: he shall be brought to the entrance of the tent of meeting,

And she vowed a vow and said,“ O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.”
