Then Jesus* arrived from Galilee at the Jordan, coming to John to be baptized by him.

When they had brought them outside, one said,“ Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the surrounding area; escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away.”But Lot said to them,“ Oh no, my lords!Now behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your compassion, which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, for the disaster will overtake me and I will die;now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there( is it not small?) so that my life may be saved.”And he said to him,“ Behold, I grant you this request also, not to overthrow the town of which you have spoken.

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.He also had them walk on a straight way, To go to an inhabited city.

But when he had thought this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,“ Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will lead us until death.

And after being warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord* appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,“ Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”

You will guide me with Your plan, And afterward receive me to glory.

But Ananias answered,“ Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints in Jerusalem;and here he has authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on Your name.”

They answered and said to him,“ You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever.

But Samuel said,“ How can I go? When Saul hears about it, he will kill me.” But the Lord said,“ Take a heifer with you and say,‘ I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’

This is what the Lord says, He who is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:“ I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to benefit, Who leads you in the way you should go.If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord* appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said,

Others were saying,“ This is the Christ.” But others were saying,“ Surely the Christ is not coming from Galilee, is He?Has the Scripture not said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
