“ I, the LORD, promise that a new time will certainly come when I will raise up for them a righteous branch, a descendant of David. He will rule over them with wisdom and understanding and will do what is just and right in the land.

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!”

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you: he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey– on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.

Then Pilate said,“ So you are a king!” Jesus replied,“ You say that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world– to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.His dominion will be vast and he will bring immeasurable prosperity. He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, establishing it and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, from this time forward and forevermore. The LORD’s intense devotion to his people will accomplish this.

Nathanael answered him,“ Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel!”

Nations come to your light, kings to your bright light.

“ I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

But when he again brings his firstborn into the world, he says,“ Let all the angels of God worship him!”

Then Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said,“ You say so.”

When they saw the star they shouted joyfully.As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

But they will be subject to the LORD their God and to the Davidic ruler whom I will raise up as king over them.

so that all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

There was also an inscription over him,“ This is the king of the Jews.”

“ Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Then the king will be attracted by your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit to him!

Pilate also had a notice written and fastened to the cross, which read:“ Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews.”

Look, a king will promote fairness; officials will promote justice.Each of them will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from a rainstorm; like streams of water in a dry region and like the shade of a large cliff in a parched land.

“ Tell the people of Zion,‘ Look, your king is coming to you, unassuming and seated on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

Because of our God’s tender mercy the dawn will break upon us from on highto give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

So Pilate asked Jesus,“ Are you the king of the Jews?” He replied,“ You say so.”

Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him. They began to shout,“ Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!”

From this point on, Pilate tried to release him. But the Jewish leaders shouted out,“ If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar! Everyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar!”When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat in the place called“ The Stone Pavement”( Gabbatha in Aramaic).( Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover, about noon.) Pilate said to the Jewish leaders,“ Look, here is your king!”Then they shouted out,“ Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate asked,“ Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests replied,“ We have no king except Caesar!”

He said,“ Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

Thomas replied to him,“ My Lord and my God!”
