耶和華這樣說：“在拉瑪聽見有聲音，是痛哭哀號的聲音；拉結為她的兒女哀哭，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。”

萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“你們要思想，要把唱哀歌的婦女召來，把那些擅長哀哭的婦女請來；叫他們趕快為我們舉哀，使我們的眼流下眼淚，使我們的眼皮湧出淚水。因為從錫安可以聽到哀聲，說：‘我們何等衰敗！我們多麼羞恥！因我們丟棄了這地，我們的家園被拆毀了。’”婦女們哪！你們要聽耶和華的話，你們的耳朵要領受他口中的話；要教導你們的女兒舉哀，各人要彼此學習哀歌。因為死亡從窗戶上來，進入我們的堡壘；要從街上剪除孩童，從廣場上剪除年輕人。

他們從伯特利起程，離以法他還有一段路程的時候，拉結產期到了；但她遇到難產。她正在極辛苦的時候，接生婆對她說：“不要怕，你這次又得了一個兒子。”拉結快要死了，正要斷氣的時候，她給她兒子起名叫便．俄尼；他的父親卻叫他便雅憫。拉結死了，葬在通往以法他的路旁。以法他就是伯利恆。雅各在她的墳墓上立了一根柱子，就是拉結的墓碑，到今天還在。

我聽到好像婦人產痛的叫聲，正像生頭胎孩子的婦人疼痛的叫聲，就是錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的聲音，他們喘著氣，伸開雙手，說：“哎！我有禍了！在那些殺人者跟前，我發昏了！”

他們的父親雅各對他們說：“你們總是使我喪失兒子：約瑟沒有了，西緬也沒有了，你們還要把便雅憫帶走；每一件事都是針對我。”

他回到兄弟們那裡去，說：“孩子不見了，我可到哪裡去呢？”

他把書卷在我面前展開，書卷內外都寫上字，寫的是哀歌、悲歎和災禍。

他認出這件長衣，就說：“是我兒子的長衣，有猛獸把他吃了。約瑟真的被撕碎了。”雅各就撕裂自己的衣服，腰束麻布，為他兒子哀悼了很多日子。他所有的兒女都起來安慰他，他卻不肯接受他們的安慰，說：“我要悲悲哀哀地下到陰間，到我的兒子那裡去。”約瑟的父親就為他哀哭。

我觀看，就聽見一隻在高空飛翔的鷹，大聲說：“有禍了！有禍了！住在地上的人有禍了！因為還有三位天使將要吹其餘的號。”

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。
