耶和华说：“在拉玛有痛哭哀号的声音，是拉结在为儿女哀痛，不肯接受安慰，因为他们都死了。”

万军之耶和华说：“把陪哭的妇人请来，把最会哭的妇人带来，叫她们速来为我的子民哀哭，哭得他们泪盈满眶，哭得他们泪如泉涌。因为从锡安传出哀鸣，‘我们灭亡了！我们受了奇耻大辱！我们的家园被毁，我们只好背井离乡。’”妇人啊，你们要听耶和华的话，接受祂的教诲；你们要教导女儿哀哭，教导邻居唱挽歌。因为死亡从窗户爬进我们的城堡，吞灭街上的孩童和广场上的青年。

他们从伯特利继续前行，离以法他还有一段路时，拉结难产。在难产的痛苦中，接生婆对她说：“不要害怕，你又添了一个儿子！”拉结临死前给儿子取名叫便·俄尼，雅各却叫他便雅悯。拉结死后就葬在通往以法他的路旁，以法他即伯利恒。雅各在她的坟上立了石碑，至今还在。

我听见好像妇人分娩时的喊叫声，好像妇人生头胎时的痛苦呻吟。那是锡安城的喊叫声，她在喘息，伸出双手说：“噢！我有祸了，我要死在杀戮者手上了。”

雅各说：“你们使我连连失去儿子，约瑟没了，西缅没了，你们还要带走便雅悯！灾祸都落在了我头上！”

回到弟兄们那里说：“那少年不见了，我现在怎么办？”

那只手把那书卷打开，书卷的两面都写满了哀伤、叹息、悲痛的话。

雅各认出那件彩衣，说：“这是我儿子的衣服，一定是野兽把他吃了，约瑟一定被撕碎了！”雅各撕裂自己的衣服，束上麻布，为约瑟哀伤了好几天。他的儿女都来安慰他，他却不肯接受他们的安慰，说：“我一定会凄凄惨惨地下到阴间，去我儿子那里。”约瑟的父亲为他哀哭。

我又看见有一只鹰在半空中飞翔，听见它大声宣告：“有祸了！有祸了！世上的居民有祸了！还有三位天使要吹响号角。”

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。
