Herod realized that the Wise Men had tricked him. So he became very angry. He gave orders about Bethlehem and the area around it. He ordered all the boys two years old and under to be killed. This agreed with the time when the Wise Men had seen the star.

Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

Herod was furious when he realized that the wise men had outwitted him. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, based on the wise men’s report of the star’s first appearance.

当时尼布甲尼撒勃然大怒，吩咐人把沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌带来；他们就被带到王面前。

残暴的统治者辖制贫民，就像吼叫的狮子，又像饥饿觅食的熊。

就把家里的人都叫了来，对他们说：“你们看，我丈夫带回家来的希伯来人想调戏我们。他进到我这里来，要与我同睡，我就大声呼叫。

我又看见那妇人喝圣徒的血，和那为耶稣作见证的人的血，喝醉了。我看见了她，就大大惊奇。

哈薛说：“我主为什么哭起来了？”他回答：“因为我已知道你要对以色列人施行的恶事。他们的城堡，你要放火焚烧；他们的年轻人，你要用刀杀死；他们的婴孩，你要摔死；他们的孕妇，你要剖开。”

巴勒向巴兰生气，就拍起手；巴勒对巴兰说：“我请你来咒诅我的敌人，如今你反倒祝福他们这三次。

她又用同样的话对他说：“你带回家来的希伯来奴隶，竟进到这里来，要调戏我。

所以必有哄嚷之声攻击你的众民，你的一切城堡都必被毁坏，正如沙勒幔在争战的日子毁坏伯．亚比勒一般，有母亲与儿女一同在那里被摔死。

他们的怒气可咒，因为非常暴烈；他们的烈怒可诅，因为十分凶猛；我要把他们分散在雅各家；把他们散居在以色列。

巴兰对驴说：“因为你作弄我。但愿我手中有刀，现在就把你杀死。”

当时尼布甲尼撒向沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌大发烈怒，连脸色也变了，吩咐人把窑烧热，比平常猛烈七倍。又吩咐他军队中几个最精壮的士兵，把沙得拉、米煞和亚伯尼歌绑起来，扔在烈火的窑中。

石头重，沙土也重，愚妄人的怒气比这两样更重。烈怒虽然凶残，暴怒又好像狂澜，人还可以忍受；但面对嫉妒，谁能站立得住呢？
