若是這樣，經上所說事情必須如此發生的話怎麼應驗呢？」

但這整件事的發生，是要應驗先知書上的話。」那時，門徒都離開他，逃走了。

希律死了以後，在埃及，忽然主的使者在約瑟夢中向他顯現，

又囑咐他們不要把他宣揚出去。這是要應驗以賽亞先知所說的話：「看哪，我所揀選的僕人，我所親愛，心所喜悅的；我要將我的靈賜給他，他必將公理傳給外邦。

他們到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那裏。這是要應驗先知所說的話：「他將稱為拿撒勒人。」

這是要應驗以賽亞先知所說的話：「西布倫，拿弗他利，沿海的路，約旦河的東邊，外邦人的加利利－

耶穌對他們說：「這就是我從前和你們同在時所告訴你們的話：摩西的律法、先知的書，和《詩篇》上所記一切指着我的話都必須應驗。」

「諸位弟兄，聖經的話必須應驗。聖經中，聖靈曾藉大衛的口預先說到那領人來拿耶穌的猶大；

他們把他釘在十字架上，然後抽籤分了他的衣服，

約在那時候，希律王下手苦待教會中的一些人，用刀殺了約翰的哥哥雅各。他見猶太人喜歡這事，也去拿住彼得。那時候正是除酵節期間。希律捉了彼得，押在監裏，交給四班士兵看守，每班四個人，企圖要在逾越節後把他提出來，當着百姓辦他。

希律不歸榮耀給上帝，所以主的使者立刻擊打他，他被蟲咬，就斷了氣。上帝的道日見興旺，越發廣傳。
