Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

And Jesus seeing him said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth- eaten.Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

And thou shalt eat and be full, and thou shalt bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.Beware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:lest, when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:and lest thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth.But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.

Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs came and licked his sores.And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish.And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house;for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.

But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment- seats?

Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased:For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.Though while he lived he blessed his soul( And men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself),He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see the light.

And it shall be, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee, great and goodly cities, which thou buildest not,and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and cisterns hewn out, which thou hewedst not, vineyards and olive- trees, which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt eat and be full;then beware lest thou forget Jehovah, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Remove far from me falsehood and lies; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is needful for me:Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

But let the brother of low degree glory in his high estate:and the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.For the sun ariseth with the scorching wind, and withereth the grass; and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits?And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my grain and my goods.And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much;

They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.

Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
