Someone came to Jesus with this question:“ Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”

Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked,“ Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

Just then, a man came up to Jesus. He asked,“ Teacher, what good thing must I do to receive eternal life?”

And behold, a man came up to him, saying,“ Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”

Just then someone came up and asked him,“ Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”

And someone came to Him and said,“ Teacher, what good thing shall I do so that I may obtain eternal life?”

Now behold, one came and said to Him,“ Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Just then someone came up and asked Him,“ Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”

And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Now someone came up to him and said,“ Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?”

Behold, one came to him and said,“ Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked,“ Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”“ Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked.“ Only God is truly good.But to answer your question, you know the commandments:‘ You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.’”“ Teacher,” the man replied,“ I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.”Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him.“ There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him.“ Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”At this the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!”This amazed them. But Jesus said again,“ Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God.In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”The disciples were astounded.“ Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked.Jesus looked at them intently and said,“ Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”Then Peter began to speak up.“ We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said.“ Yes,” Jesus replied,“ and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News,will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property— along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.

so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.

“ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.

and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,

Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

Simon Peter replied,“ Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”They replied,“ We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”Jesus told them,“ This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Jesus looked at them intently and said,“ Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

“ I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question:“ Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”Jesus replied,“ What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”The man answered,“‘ You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And,‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’”“ Right!” Jesus told him.“ Do this and you will live!”

Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.

But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

Then he brought them out and asked,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.

Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace.

Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question:“ Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”“ Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him.“ Only God is truly good.But to answer your question, you know the commandments:‘ You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.’”The man replied,“ I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.”When Jesus heard his answer, he said,“ There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich.When Jesus saw this, he said,“ How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”Those who heard this said,“ Then who in the world can be saved?”He replied,“ What is impossible for people is possible with God.”Peter said,“ We’ve left our homes to follow you.”“ Yes,” Jesus replied,“ and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God,will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

“ You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him.And this is the way to have eternal life— to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God— who does not lie— promised them before the world began.

He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

“ Why ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied.“ There is only One who is good. But to answer your question— if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments.”“ Which ones?” the man asked. And Jesus replied:“‘ You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely.
