耶稣告诫他们，吩咐他们不要把这事告诉任何人。又说：“人子必须受很多苦害，被长老们、祭司长们和经文士们弃绝，并且被杀，然后在第三天复活。”

但是我告诉你们：以利亚已经来了，人们却不认他，反而任意对待他；照样，人子也将受到他们的苦害。”

她的父母十分惊讶，耶稣吩咐他们不要把所发生的事告诉任何人。

耶稣对他说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

又对他们说：“经上这样记着：基督必须受难，然后在第三天从死人中复活，并且人要奉他的名宣讲为罪得赦免的悔改，从耶路撒冷开始，直到万国。

耶稣对他说：“你要注意，不可告诉任何人，只要去把自己给祭司看，并且献上摩西所吩咐的祭物，好对他们做见证。”

接着耶稣吩咐门徒们，不要对任何人说他就是基督。从那时候起，耶稣开始向他的门徒们指示他必须到耶路撒冷去，经受长老们、祭司长们和经文士们的很多苦害，并且被杀，然后在第三天要复活。

他们要鞭打他，并杀害他；然后在第三天，他要复活。”但门徒们一点也不领悟这些话。这话对他们是隐藏的，他们不知道他在说什么。
