我雖然自由，不受任何人管轄，但我自願成為眾人的奴僕，為的是要多得一些人。對猶太人，我就作猶太人，為了要得著猶太人；對律法以下的人，雖然我自己不在律法之下，還是作了律法以下的人，為了要得著律法以下的人。對沒有律法的人，我就作了沒有律法的人，其實我不是在神的律法以外，而是在基督的律法之下，為了要得著沒有律法的人。對軟弱的人，我就成了軟弱的人，為了要得著軟弱的人。對怎麼樣的人，我就作怎麼樣的人；無論如何，總要救一些人。

然而你們要謹慎，免得你們這自由成了軟弱的人的絆腳石。

我們凡事都沒有妨礙人，不讓這職分受到毀謗，

你們是知道我們的主耶穌基督的恩典的：他本來富足，卻為你們成了貧窮，要使你們因他的貧窮成為富足。

無論是吃肉，是喝酒，或是甚麼使你的弟兄跌倒的事，一律不要作才好。

所以，如果食物使我的弟兄跌倒，我就永遠不再吃肉，免得使我的弟兄跌倒了。

我們堅強的人，應該擔當不堅強的人的軟弱，不應該求自己的喜悅。我們各人務要叫鄰舍喜悅，好讓他得到益處、得到造就。因為連基督也不求自己的喜悅；反而像經上所記的：“辱罵你的人的辱罵，都落在我的身上。”

你要喝那溪裡的水，我已經吩咐烏鴉在那裡供養你。”

門徒前來告訴他：“法利賽人聽了這話很生氣，你知道嗎？”耶穌說：“所有不是我天父栽種的植物，都要連根拔起來。由得他們吧！他們是瞎眼的，卻作了嚮導；如果瞎子領瞎子，二人都會跌進坑裡。”

耶和華卻安排了一條大魚，把約拿吞下。約拿就在魚腹中三日三夜。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為2:1）

神就賜福給他們，對他們說：“要繁衍增多，充滿這地，征服它；也要管理海裡的魚、空中的鳥和地上所有走動的生物。”

無論是猶太人，是希臘人，是神的教會，你們總不可使他們跌倒；就好像我所作的一切，都是要使大家喜悅，不是要求自己的好處，而是要求別人的好處，為了要使他們得救。

我親愛的弟兄們，請聽：神不是揀選了在世上被認為貧窮的人嗎？這些人卻在信心上富足，而且是承受神的國的人。這國是神應許賜給愛他的人的。

於是耶和華吩咐那魚，魚就把約拿吐在陸地上。

各樣的惡事要遠離。

耶穌心裡知道門徒為了這事議論紛紛，就對他們說：“這話使你們動搖嗎？

你使他暫時成了比天使卑微（“暫時成了比天使卑微”或譯：“比天使稍低微一點”），卻賜給他榮耀尊貴作冠冕，（有些古卷在此有“並立他統管你手所造的一切”一句）使萬物都服在他的腳下。”既然萬有都服了他，就沒有剩下一樣不服他的了。但是現在我們還沒有看見萬有都服他。

無論在甚麼事上你都要顯出好行為的榜樣，在教導上要純全，要莊重，言詞要純正，無可指摘，使反對的人因為無從毀謗，就自覺慚愧。
