說：「主啊，可憐我的兒子吧！他患了癲癇病，十分痛苦，經常跌進火裡，也經常跌進水裡。

他的消息就在全敘利亞省傳開了。人們把所有的病人，就是患各種疾病的、受疼痛折磨的、有鬼魔附身的、癲癇的、癱瘓的，都帶到耶穌那裡。耶穌就使他們痊癒。

這時候，忽然來了一個住在那地區的迦南婦人，她呼叫說：「主啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！我的女兒有鬼魔附身，痛苦萬分。」

他們就把他帶到耶穌面前來。邪靈一見耶穌，立刻使孩子劇烈地抽瘋，倒在地上打滾，口吐白沫。耶穌問孩子的父親：「這事發生在他身上有多久了？」他回答說：「從小就這樣。邪靈經常把他扔進火裡或水裡，要害死他。但你如果能做什麼，就求你憐憫我們，幫助我們！」

人群中有一個人回答：「老師，我帶了我的兒子到你這裡。他有一個啞巴的邪靈附身。無論在哪裡，只要邪靈抓住他，把他摔倒在地，他就口吐白沫，緊咬牙關，全身僵硬。我告訴你的門徒們，要他們驅趕那邪靈，可是他們不能。」

那些鬼魔就央求耶穌，說：「如果你要把我們趕出去，就叫我們進入這群豬裡面去吧。」耶穌對它們說：「去吧！」它們就出來，進入豬裡面去了。忽然，那整群豬從山崖衝到湖裡，在水裡淹死了。

他經常被腳鐐和鐵鏈捆起來，然而他總是掙斷鐵鏈、打碎腳鐐。沒有人能制伏他。不管黑夜白晝，他常常在墓地和山上喊叫，又用石頭砍自己。

耶穌又來到加利利的迦拿，就是他把水變成酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患了病。這個人聽說耶穌從猶太來到加利利，就到耶穌那裡去，請求他下去治癒他的兒子，因為他的兒子快要死了。

這時候，來了一個名叫睚魯的會堂主管。他一見到耶穌，就俯伏在耶穌腳前，迫切地懇求他，說：「我的小女兒快要死了。求你來按手在她身上，好讓她得救治，能活下去。」

這時候，忽然人群中有一個人呼喊說：「老師，求求你看顧我的兒子吧！因為他是我的獨生兒子。你看，邪靈抓住他，忽然喊叫起來，又使他抽瘋，口吐白沫；邪靈折磨著他，就是不離開。我求過你的門徒們，要他們驅趕那邪靈，可是他們不能。」耶穌回答說：「唉，這個不信、歪曲的世代！我還要和你們在一起多久呢？我還要容忍你們多久呢？把你的兒子帶到這裡來吧！」那孩子上前來的時候，鬼魔把他摔倒，使他劇烈地抽瘋。耶穌就斥責那汙靈，使孩子痊癒，把孩子交給他父親。
