The disciples talked about this among themselves. They said,“ He must be saying this because we didn’t bring any bread.”

And they began discussing it among themselves, saying,“ We brought no bread.”

At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread.

“ Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them.“ Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.

An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.

They discussed this with one another and said,“ It is because we have no bread.”Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them:“ Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?
