They discussed this among themselves and said,“ It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”

The disciples talked about this among themselves. They said,“ He must be saying this because we didn’t bring any bread.”

At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread.

They were discussing among themselves,“ We didn’t bring any bread.”

And they reasoned among themselves, saying,“ It is because we have taken no bread.”

So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead might mean.

But Peter said,“ By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

And he said,“ Are you also still without understanding?Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.

An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest.

And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread.And Jesus, aware of this, said to them,“ Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened?Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?
