Then Jesus said to them,“ Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

Then Jesus told them,“ Watch out and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

Meanwhile, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to his disciples first,“ Be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Then they understood that he had not told them to beware of the leaven in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Then he gave them strict orders:“ Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

A little leaven leavens the whole batch of dough.

“ No grain offering that you present to the LORD is to be made with yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey as a food offering to the LORD.

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole batch of dough?Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new unleavened batch, as indeed you are. For Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed.Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old leaven or with the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Avoid irreverent and empty speech, since those who engage in it will produce even more godlessness,and their teaching will spread like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are among them.

You must eat unleavened bread for seven days. On the first day you must remove yeast from your houses. Whoever eats what is leavened from the first day through the seventh day must be cut off from Israel.You are to hold a sacred assembly on the first day and another sacred assembly on the seventh day. No work may be done on those days except for preparing what people need to eat— you may do only that.“ You are to observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread because on this very day I brought your military divisions out of the land of Egypt. You must observe this day throughout your generations as a permanent statute.You are to eat unleavened bread in the first month, from the evening of the fourteenth day of the month until the evening of the twenty-first day.Yeast must not be found in your houses for seven days. If anyone eats something leavened, that person, whether a resident alien or native of the land, must be cut off from the community of Israel.

He then told them,“ Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”
