當眾人越來越擁擠的時候，耶穌說：「這世代是一個邪惡的世代。他們求看神蹟，除了約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看了。約拿怎樣為尼尼微人成了神蹟，人子也要照樣為這世代的人成為神蹟。

耶穌回答他們：「邪惡淫亂的世代求看神蹟，除了先知約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看了。約拿三日三夜在大魚肚腹中，同樣，人子也要三日三夜在地裏面。

耶和華安排一條大魚吞下約拿，約拿在魚腹中三日三夜。

凡在這淫亂罪惡的世代，把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在他父的榮耀裏與聖天使一同來臨的時候，也要把那人當作可恥的。」

眾人就央求耶穌離開他們的地區。耶穌上船的時候，那曾被鬼附的人懇求要和耶穌在一起。

他們縱然將兒女養大，我卻要使他們喪子，一個也不留。我離棄他們，他們就有禍了。

耶穌心裏深深嘆息，說：「這世代為甚麼求神蹟呢？我實在告訴你們，沒有神蹟給這世代看。」

由他們吧！他們是瞎子作瞎子的嚮導；若是瞎子領瞎子，兩個人都要掉在坑裏。」

以法蓮親近偶像，任憑他吧！

當他們抗拒他、毀謗他的時候，他就抖掉衣裳的灰塵，對他們說：「你們的罪歸到你們自己的頭上，與我無干。從今以後，我要往外邦人那裏去。」

耶和華說：「人既屬乎血氣，我的靈就不永遠住在他裏面；然而他的年歲還可到一百二十年。」

彼得還用更多別的話作見證，勸勉他們說：「你們當救自己脫離這彎曲的世代。」
