Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

耶穌顧其人、即愛之、謂之曰、爾猶缺一、往鬻所有以濟貧、則必有財於天、且來負十字架而從我、

又謂眾曰、人欲從我、則當克己、日負其十字架而從我、凡欲救其生命者、反喪之、為我而喪其生命者、反救之、人盡得天下而自喪自亡、何益之有、凡以我及我道為可恥、迨人子以己與父及聖天使之榮臨時、亦必以其人為可恥、我誠告爾、立於此者、有人未死之先、必見天主之國、○

凡欲從基督耶穌而虔敬度日者、必受窘逐、

遂召眾與門徒曰、人欲從我、則當克己、負其十字架而從我、

摩西有信、及長不願稱為法老女之子、願與天主民同受苦、不願暫享罪惡之逸樂、彼以為為基督而受之辱、較伊及諸財尤寶、因望賞賚故也、

今我緣爾受苦、反以為喜、且為基督之身、即教會、在我身補基督未受盡之患難、

堅門徒心、勸其恆信、又言我儕欲入天主國、必歷多難、

耶穌負其十字架而出、至一所、名觸髏處、希伯來言、曰各各他、

免爾中有人因此諸患難搖動、蓋爾自知我儕分定應守患難、

有古利奈人西門者、即亞力山德與魯孚之父、由田間來、過焉、眾強之負耶穌十字架、

眾出時、遇一古利奈人、名西門、強之負耶穌之十字架、

曳耶穌時、有古利奈人名西門、由田間來、眾執之、使肩十字架從耶穌、
