One family was drawn by lot from Eleazar, and then the next from Ithamar.The first lot went to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,the fifth to Malkijah, the sixth to Mijamin,the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,the twenty-first to Jakin, the twenty-second to Gamul,the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.This was the order in which they carried out their assigned responsibilities when they entered the LORD’s temple, according to the regulations given them by their ancestor Aaron, just as the LORD God of Israel had instructed him.

Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the leaders of the priests and their colleagues in the days of Jeshua.

Then Jesus took the twelve aside and said to them,“ Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.For he will be handed over to the Gentiles; he will be mocked, mistreated, and spat on.They will flog him severely and kill him. Yet on the third day he will rise again.”But the twelve understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what Jesus meant.

“ You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem. Jesus was going ahead of them, and they were amazed, but those who followed were afraid. He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was going to happen to him.“ Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and experts in the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles.They will mock him, spit on him, flog him severely, and kill him. Yet after three days, he will rise again.”

and said to them,“ Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,

“ Take these words to heart, for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.”But they did not understand this statement; its meaning had been concealed from them, so that they could not grasp it. Yet they were afraid to ask him about this statement.

saying,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”Then he said to them all,“ If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?For whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.But I tell you most certainly, there are some standing here who will not experience death before they see the kingdom of God.”

Jesus replied,“ Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”Then the Jewish leaders said to him,“ This temple has been under construction for forty- six years, and are you going to raise it up in three days?”But Jesus was speaking about the temple of his body.

While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.
