nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—“ Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,”which all concern things which perish with the using— according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.

“ Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed—Better not to vow than to vow and not pay.Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands?For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God.

Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.

by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you— unless you believed in vain.
