耶穌回答他們說：『你們呢、你們為甚麼因了你們的傳統規矩而違犯上帝的誡命呢？

耶穌回答他們，說：「你們為什麼為了你們的傳統而違犯神的命令呢？

曰爾何因爾遺傳、犯上帝誡乎、

曰、爾何因爾遺傳、犯上帝誡乎、

答曰、爾何因爾遺傳犯天主之誡乎、

耶穌答曰：『爾等以遺規而違犯天主誡命、則又何說？蓋天主曰：

Jesus replied,“ And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?

And He answered and said to them,“ Why do you yourselves also break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?

And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

He answered them,“ And why do you disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

He answered them,“ Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

Although these have a reputation of wisdom by promoting ascetic practices, humility, and severe treatment of the body, they are not of any value in curbing self-indulgence.

and may not pay attention to Jewish myths and the commands of men who reject the truth.

Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the log in your own eye?Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and look, there’s a log in your eye?Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

He answered them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.They worship Me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commands of men.Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of men.”

You revoke God’s word by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many other similar things.”

Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.
