But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away.“ Tell her to go away,” they said.“ She is bothering us with all her begging.”

As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them.“ Where do you come from?” he asked.“ From the land of Canaan,” they replied,“ to buy food.”

Even when I call out or cry for help, he shuts out my prayer.

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit.
