視其所寓、遍傳全境、輒有舁病者以就。

於是耶穌令名、遂洋溢乎加利利四境。耶穌及諸徒同出會堂、偕雅谷伯若望逕入西門安德烈家。會西門之岳母病瘧而臥、諸徒即以告、耶穌進執其手、扶之起、瘧退、乃為供事。當晚、日已暮、民眾紛攜抱病及中魔者趨耶穌；舉邑之人、群集其門。凡有所患者、耶穌悉為之治；中魔者、悉為之祛；且禁魔發言、以眾魔皆知其為誰也。

亦有自耶路撒冷、依杜梅、約但河彼岸、以及諦羅西同而來者。因聞耶穌所行事蹟、乃沛然而歸附焉。人既稠、耶穌命徒備舟候用、以避擁擠。以耶穌治病告痊者眾、凡有所患者蜂擁而前、爭欲一觸其身。

閱數日、耶穌復入葛法農、眾聞其在寓、蜂擁而集、門無隙地。耶穌乃為講道。有引癱瘓者至、四人舁之；以人眾、不得近。乃按耶穌之所在、撤其屋頂、洞開一穴、並其所臥之褥縋之而下。耶穌鑒其誠、乃謂癱者曰：『小子、爾罪赦矣。』會經生數人在坐、心竊議之曰：『異哉斯人之言、何其僭妄之甚也！捨天主外、誰能赦罪者？』耶穌立燭其意、曰：『爾心何為竊議？或謂癱者曰：「爾罪赦矣、」或曰：「起攜褥行、」孰易？第欲爾曹知人子在世、自有赦罪之權耳。』乃顧謂癱者曰：『命汝起、攜褥歸。』其人起、亟於眾前攜褥而出。眾奇之、歸榮天主曰：『如此靈蹟、向所未睹。』

聲名洋溢乎敘利亞。凡舁染恙、患病、負痛、中魔、顛癇、癱痿者至前、悉救治之。眾自加利利、代家玻羅、耶路撒冷、猶太、及約但河外、紛紛來從。
