就跑遍那一带地方，把有病的人放在褥子上，听见他在哪里，就抬到哪里。

耶稣的名声立刻传遍了加利利一带。他们一出会堂，就和雅各、约翰到西门和安得烈的家里去。西门的岳母正在发烧躺着，他们立刻告诉耶稣。耶稣走到她面前，拉着她的手，扶她起来，热就退了，她就服事他们。到了黄昏，有人不断把生病的和被鬼附的，都带到耶稣面前。全城的人都聚集在门口。耶稣医好了各样的病，也赶出许多的鬼，并且不许鬼说话，因为鬼认识他。

还有许多人听见他所作的一切事，就从犹太、耶路撒冷、以土迈、约旦河外和推罗、西顿一带地方来到他跟前。因为人多，耶稣就吩咐门徒为他预备一只小船，免得众人拥挤他。他医好了许多人，所以凡有病的都挤过来要摸他。

过了些日子，耶稣再回到迦百农。一听说他在屋子里，许多人就都来聚集，甚至连门前都没有地方了，耶稣就对他们讲道。那时有人把一个瘫子带到耶稣那里，是由四个人抬来的。因为人挤，不能带到他面前，就对着耶稣所在的地方，拆去房顶；拆通了，就把瘫子连人带褥子缒了下去。耶稣看见他们的信心，就对瘫子说：“孩子，你的罪赦了。”当时有几个经学家也坐在那里，心里议论说：“这个人为什么这样说话？他说僭妄的话了。除了神一位以外，谁能赦罪呢？”耶稣心里立刻知道他们这样议论，就对他们说：“你们心里为什么议论这事？对瘫子说‘你的罪赦了’，或说‘起来，拿着你的褥子走’，哪一样容易呢？然而为了要你们知道人子在地上有赦罪的权柄，（他就对瘫子说：）我吩咐你，起来，拿起你的褥子，回家去吧。”那人就起来，立刻拿着褥子，当众出去了。众人都非常惊奇，颂赞神，说：“我们从来没有见过这样的事。”

他的名声传遍了叙利亚全地，人们就把一切患病的，就是患各种疾病、疼痛、鬼附、癫痫、瘫痪的，都带到他面前，他就医好他们。于是有许多人从加利利、低加波利、耶路撒冷、犹太和约旦河东来跟从耶稣。
