Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

耶穌聞約翰下獄、乃退往加利利、

分封之君希律、因其弟腓力妻希羅底事、及所行諸惡、見責於約翰、乃益其惡、囚約翰於獄、○

於是希羅底怨之、欲殺之而弗得、

希羅底之女入舞、以娛希律及同筵者、王謂之曰、凡爾所欲、求則予之、

約翰在獄、聞基督所行、則遣其徒問之、

時、同在者數人、以加利利人之事、告耶穌、即彼拉多以其血雜祭物中也、

約翰亦施洗於近撒冷之哀嫩、以其地多水也、眾至而受洗焉、蓋約翰尚未下獄也、
