他們就驚慌，感到害怕，以為看到了幽靈。

有主的一位天使站在香壇的右邊向他顯現。撒迦利亞看見後，就驚慌不安，恐懼就臨到了他。

我一看見他，就仆倒在他的腳前，像死人那樣。他把右手放在我身上，說：「不要怕！我就是首先的，是末後的，

婦女們嚇得把臉伏在地上。那兩個人對她們說：「你們為什麼在死人中尋找活人呢？

那女人看見撒母耳，就大聲哀叫。她對掃羅說：「你為什麼欺騙我呢？你就是掃羅！」王對她說：「不要害怕。你究竟看見了什麼？」那女人對掃羅說：「我看見有神明從地裡上來。」掃羅問她：「他是什麼模樣呢？」她回答：「上來的是個老人，披著外袍。」掃羅認為那是撒母耳，就臉伏於地下拜。

他的身體如黃水晶，面貌如閃電的樣子，眼睛如燃燒的火把，膀臂和腳如磨亮閃耀的銅；他說話的聲音如眾人發出的聲音。唯獨我但以理看到了這異象，那些與我在一起的人卻沒有看到這異象，但是有極大的恐懼落在他們身上，他們就逃走躲藏了。因此，唯獨剩下我一人看到了這極大的異象；我裡面一點力氣都沒有，我的臉色變得如同死灰，我的力氣也留存不住，但我卻聽見了他說話的聲音；我一聽見他說話的聲音，就臉伏於地沉睡了。看哪，有一隻手碰了我一下，使我用膝蓋和手掌支撐起來！那碰我的對我說：「蒙愛的但以理啊！你當領悟我向你說的話，站起來，因為我現在受派遣到你這裡。」他與我說這話的時候，我就戰戰兢兢地站了起來。他又對我說：「但以理啊！你不要害怕，因為自從你用心領悟這事、在你的神面前謙卑的第一天起，你的禱告就蒙垂聽了；我是因你的禱告而來的。

他們對羅妲說：「你瘋了！」可是她堅持就是如此。他們不住地說：「那是他的天使。」

於是耶穌開啟他們的理性，使他們能領悟經上的話，
