耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先到那邊，到伯賽大去，等他自己解散羣眾。既辭別了他們，他就往山上去禱告。到了傍晚，船在海中，耶穌自己單獨在岸上。看見他們艱苦在搖櫓，因為風逆着他們；就在夜裏四更時分，向着他們那裏走去，在海上走，想要在他們旁邊走過去。他們看見他在海上走，以為是鬼怪，就高聲喊叫起來；大家一看見他，便震盪不安。耶穌連忙同他們講話，對他們說：『你們放膽；是我；別怕了！』就到他們那裏上了船，風就不狂吹了。他們心裏非常驚奇；

耶穌解散了羣眾，就上船，來到馬加丹的境界。

耶穌離開那一羣人，進了屋裏，門徒就上他跟前來說：『請把田間稗子的比喻給我們講解吧。』
