With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, (niv)

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. (niv)

Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies. (niv)

“ Laughter,” I said,“ is madness. And what does pleasure accomplish?”I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly— my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was good for people to do under the heavens during the few days of their lives.I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards.I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired male and female singers, and a harem as well— the delights of a man’s heart.I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil.Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. What more can the king’s successor do than what has already been done? (niv)

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. (niv)

Many, Lord, are asking,“ Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us.Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. (niv)

“ But they paid no attention and went off— one to his field, another to his business. (niv)
