夫真光入世、而世人以行為邪惡故、獨愛黑暗、而不愛光明；故曰譴在其中矣。蓋行為不正者、必惡真光、而莫敢與之近、惟恐其行為之見燭也。

比辣多應曰：『何謂真理？』言竟復出、而告猶太人曰：『吾未見其罪也。

究竟天主之國、不在飲食、惟在正義和平、與夫怡然自得於聖神之中耳。

退而共議、僉曰：『是人實無應死或被囚之罪。』亞基帕又語非斯都曰：『苟是人未上訴於凱撒、本可開釋矣。』

彼等既與葆樂約期、即有多人來其寓所、葆樂自朝至暮向彼等證明天國之道、關於耶穌之事、引徵摩西之律與先知書、以詳說之。

毅然棄絕一切暗昧可恥之事、不行巧詐、不貶損天主之道、惟知在天主明鑒之下、藉真理之昌明、而自致於各人之良知而已。若謂吾人之福音為晦澀而難明者、其惟於沉淪之徒為然歟！

遣其宣揚天主國、施醫濟眾、

治其病者、告邑人曰：「天主之國、已近爾矣！」

我向在爾中宣揚天國、今而後吾知爾等不得重睹吾顏矣。

茲所爭者、僅係理論名詞及爾禮法之辯、爾宜自處、吾則無意予以受理。』

出言當是是非非、過此皆屬邪妄。

爾曹之莫明吾言何也？實緣爾曹不堪聞吾道耳。

落於道旁者、譬人甫聞道、魔輒至、將新播於心田之道奪之以去；

於是凡不信真理而惟邪惡是好者、必至判罪而後已。

而營私樹黨、逆真理而順邪惡者、則報以譴怒。

僅為宗教上之爭執、實非予所逆料也。不過葆樂肯定有一耶穌、死而復生而已。此等事予實不知如何訊究、故予詢彼願往耶路撒冷聽審否、

夫我乃諸聖中之至微者、竟亦蒙此殊恩、得在異邦人中弘宣基督不可思議之厚澤、
