Jesus’ brothers said to him,“ Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.

Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.Someone told him,“ Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”He replied,“ My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.

Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him.A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him,“ Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”“ Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers!Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

He said,“ The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,“‘ though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.

His mother said to the servants,“ Do whatever he tells you.”

“ No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.“ Get up,” he said,“ take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,

Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him,“ Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

and said,“ Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
