But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him,“ Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.”And he answered them,“ Who are my mother and my brothers?”And looking about at those who sat around him, he said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers!For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”

but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

he said,“ To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that‘ seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,“ Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.”And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt

And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him,“ Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.”

saying,“ Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead.”
