So his brothers said to him,“ Leave here and go to Judea so that your disciples can see your works that you are doing.

Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us?” So they were offended by him.

Then his mother and brothers came to him, but they could not meet with him because of the crowd.He was told,“ Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”But he replied to them,“ My mother and my brothers are those who hear and do the word of God.”

After his brothers had gone up to the festival, then he also went up, not openly but secretly.

His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to him and called him.A crowd was sitting around him and told him,“ Look, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters are outside asking for you.”He replied to them,“ Who are my mother and my brothers?”Looking at those sitting in a circle around him, he said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers!Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

So he said,“ The secrets of the kingdom of God have been given for you to know, but to the rest it is in parables, so that Looking they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant from the Holy Spirit.

How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him.

For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt.

Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother kept all these things in her heart.

Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him,“ Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

saying,“ Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, because those who intended to kill the child are dead.”
