For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, who shared in the Holy Spirit,who tasted God’s good word and the powers of the coming age,and who have fallen away. This is because, to their own harm, they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding him up to contempt.For the ground that drinks the rain that often falls on it and that produces vegetation useful to those for whom it is cultivated receives a blessing from God.But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and about to be cursed, and at the end will be burned.

They are shepherds who only look after themselves. They are waterless clouds carried along by winds; trees in late autumn— fruitless, twice dead and uprooted.They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shameful deeds; wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.

If anyone sees a fellow believer committing a sin that doesn’t lead to death, he should ask, and God will give life to him— to those who commit sin that doesn’t lead to death. There is sin that leads to death. I am not saying he should pray about that.All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin that doesn’t lead to death.

who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us. They displease God and are hostile to everyone,by keeping us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. As a result, they are constantly filling up their sins to the limit, and wrath has overtaken them at last.

Blind guides! You strain out a gnat, but gulp down a camel!

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a child of hell as you are!

But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and are saved.

When the Pharisees heard this, they said,“ This man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin.The one who hates me also hates my Father.If I had not done the works among them that no one else has done, they would not be guilty of sin. Now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

Because of this, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’so that this generation may be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world—from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.“ Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible.

Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors’ sins!“ Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.Truly I tell you, all these things will come on this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!See, your house is left to you desolate.For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say,‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’!”

as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear, to this day.And David says, Let their table become a snare and a trap, a pitfall and a retribution to them.Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and their backs be bent continually.
