“ When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

“ What happens when an evil spirit comes out of a person? It goes through dry areas looking for a place to rest. But it doesn’t find it.

“ When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.

“ When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none.

But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said,“ What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.Jesus asked him, saying,“ What is your name?” And he said,“ Legion,” because many demons had entered him.And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them.

“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,“ That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.They shall wander from sea to sea, And from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord, But shall not find it.“ In that day the fair virgins And strong young men Shall faint from thirst.

I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water.

And suddenly they cried out, saying,“ What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

And he cried out with a loud voice and said,“ What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”For He said to him,“ Come out of the man, unclean spirit!”Then He asked him,“ What is your name?” And he answered, saying,“ My name is Legion; for we are many.”Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains.So all the demons begged Him, saying,“ Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.”And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine( there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea.

And the Lord said to Satan,“ From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

And the Lord said to Satan,“ From where do you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.The parched ground shall become a pool, And the thirsty land springs of water; In the habitation of jackals, where each lay, There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Then he said to me:“ This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many.But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt.Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.”

O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.
