耶穌對曰：『以邪惡不淑之世代、而求靈徵、除先知若納之靈徵、更無他徵可授。

一個邪惡、淫亂的世代會尋求神蹟，可是除了約拿的神蹟以外，不會有神蹟賜給它了。」然後耶穌就離開他們走了。

那時，人群越聚越多，耶穌就開始說：「這世代是個邪惡的世代，它在尋求神蹟；可是除了約拿的神蹟以外，不會有神蹟賜給它了。就是說，約拿怎樣成了對尼尼微人的一個神蹟，人子也將照樣成為對這世代的一個神蹟。在審判的時候，南方的女王將要與這世代的人一起復活，並且要定他們的罪，因為她從極遠的地方來，要聽所羅門智慧的話語。看，比所羅門更大的就在這裡！在審判的時候，尼尼微人將要與這世代一起復活，並且要定這世代的罪，因為尼尼微人因著約拿的傳道就悔改了。看，比約拿更大的就在這裡！

你們這些淫亂的人哪！難道你們不知道，與世界為友，就是與神為敵嗎？所以，如果有人想要和世界做朋友，他就成了神的仇敵！

「至於你們這些巫婆的子孫，姦夫和妓女的種子，近前來到這裡吧！

在這淫亂、罪惡的世代，一個人如果以我和我的話為恥，當人子在他父的榮耀中，與聖天使們一起來臨的時候，也要以這個人為恥。」
