耶穌回答說：「一個邪惡淫亂的世代想看神蹟，可是除了約拿先知的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看。

曰姦惡之世而求異兆、先知約拿之兆外、無以示之、

耶穌對曰：『以邪惡不淑之世代、而求靈徵、除先知若納之靈徵、更無他徵可授。

一個邪惡淫亂的世代想看神蹟，可是除了約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看。」於是耶穌離開他們走了。

這時聚集的人越來越多，耶穌說：「這是一個邪惡的世代，人們只想看神蹟，但除了約拿的神蹟以外，再沒有神蹟給他們看。正如約拿成了尼尼微人的神蹟，人子也要成為這世代的神蹟。「在審判的日子，南方的女王和這世代的人都要起來，她要定這個世代的罪，因為她曾不遠千里來聽所羅門王的智言慧語。看啊！這裡有一位比所羅門王更偉大。「在審判的日子，尼尼微人和這世代的人都要起來，尼尼微人要定這個世代的罪，因為他們聽到約拿的宣告，就悔改了。看啊！這裡有一位比約拿更偉大。

你們這些對主不忠的人啊，難道還不明白與世俗為友就是與上帝爲敵嗎？所以，凡是與世俗為友的，都是上帝的敵人。

耶和華說：「你們這些巫婆的兒子，姦夫和妓女的孩子，上前來吧！

「在這淫亂、罪惡的世代，如果有人以我和我的道為恥，人子在父的榮耀中與聖天使再來的時候，也要以他為恥。」
