Some of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law came to Jesus. They said,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying,“ Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.”

One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said,“ Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove your authority.”

The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, demanding of him a sign from heaven to test him.Sighing deeply in his spirit, he said,“ Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”

And others, as a test, were demanding of him a sign from heaven.

As the crowds were increasing, he began saying,“ This generation is an evil generation. It demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

“ What sign, then, are you going to do so that we may see and believe you?” they asked.“ What are you going to perform?

Jesus told him,“ Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”

The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and tested him, asking him to show them a sign from heaven.He replied,“ When evening comes you say,‘ It will be good weather because the sky is red.’And in the morning,‘ Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can’t read the signs of the times.An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.
