You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

You nest of poisonous snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? Your mouths say everything that is in your hearts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind,but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. (niv)

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (niv)

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (niv)

For fools speak folly, their hearts are bent on evil: They practice ungodliness and spread error concerning the Lord; the hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold water. (niv)

They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows. (niv)

No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil. (niv)

Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush. (niv)

You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say,“ Who will see it?” (niv)
