「你們讓一棵樹好，它的果子就好；你們讓一棵樹壞，它的果子就壞；這樣，一棵樹是憑著果子被認出來。

“你们或以为树好，果子也好；树坏，果子也坏；因为看果子就可以知道树。

“你们知道树好，果子也好；又知道树坏，果子也坏；因为看果子就可以知道树。

“你们知道树好，果子也好；又知道树坏，果子也坏；因为看果子就可以知道树。

“好树结好果子，坏树结坏果子，看果子就能知道树的好坏。

“你们种好树就结好果子，种坏树就结坏果子；凭着果子就能认出树来。

爾或以樹為善、其果亦善、或以樹為惡、其果亦惡、蓋觀果而知樹矣、

若云菓美、則樹亦美；若云樹惡、則菓亦惡。樹之美惡、因菓而知也。

憑著他們的果子，你們就能認出他們來。難道從荊棘上能收葡萄，從蒺藜中能收無花果嗎？同樣，好樹都結好果子，壞樹就結壞果子；好樹不能結壞果子，壞樹也不能結好果子。所有不結好果子的樹都要被砍下來，被丟進火裡。因此憑著他們的果子，你們就能認出他們來。

你們要親近神，神就會親近你們。你們這些罪人哪，當使你們的手潔淨！心懷二意的人哪，當使你們的心純潔！

主就對他說：「如今你們法利賽人洗淨杯子、盤子的外面，但你們裡面卻充滿著貪心和惡意。你們這些愚妄的人！那位造了外面的，不也造了裡面嗎？

你們應當結出果子，與悔改的心相稱！你們不要心裡想『我們有亞伯拉罕為先祖。』我告訴你們：神能從這些石頭中給亞伯拉罕興起兒女來。現在斧子已經放在樹根上，所有不結好果子的樹都要被砍下來，被丟進火裡。

你這瞎眼的法利賽人哪！當先洗淨杯子的裡面，好使外面也潔淨。

你們當住在我裡面，我就住在你們裡面。枝條如果不留在葡萄樹上，就不能由自己結出果子；照樣，你們如果不住在我裡面，你們也是如此。「我就是葡萄樹，你們是枝條。那住在我裡面、我也在他裡面的，他才結出很多果子，因為沒有我，你們什麼也不能做。一個人如果不住在我裡面，就像枝條被丟在外面枯乾了，然後被收集扔進火裡焚燒。你們如果住在我裡面，而我的話也住在你們裡面，那麼，凡是你們所願的，當祈求，就將為你們成就。

我的弟兄們，難道無花果樹能結出橄欖，葡萄樹能結出無花果嗎？鹹水也不能產生甜水。

現在斧子已經放在樹根上，所有不結好果子的樹都要被砍下來，被丟進火裡。」
