Jesus knew their thoughts and replied,“ Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart.

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them,“ Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them,“ Why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts?

No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.

Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, Ephraim will feed on Manasseh, and both will devour Judah. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike.

But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

He knew their thoughts, so he said,“ Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart.You say I am empowered by Satan. But if Satan is divided and fighting against himself, how can his kingdom survive?And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said.But if I am casting out demons by the power of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.For when a strong man is fully armed and guards his palace, his possessions are safe—until someone even stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his weapons, and carries off his belongings.

Jesus called them over and responded with an illustration.“ How can Satan cast out Satan?” he asked.“ A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse.Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart.And if Satan is divided and fights against himself, how can he stand? He would never survive.Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.

You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them,“ Why do you question this in your hearts?

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

The great city of Babylon split into three sections, and the cities of many nations fell into heaps of rubble. So God remembered all of Babylon’s sins, and he made her drink the cup that was filled with the wine of his fierce wrath.

“ I will make Egyptian fight against Egyptian— brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, province against province.The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will confuse their plans. They will plead with their idols for wisdom and call on spirits, mediums, and those who consult the spirits of the dead.

For the Lord is the one who shaped the mountains, stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind. He turns the light of dawn into darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The Lord God of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.

But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people.No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.
