When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,“ Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

The Pharisees saw this. They said to Jesus,“ Look! It is against the Law to do this on the Sabbath day. But your disciples are doing it anyway!”

But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him,“ Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”

But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested,“ Look, your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath.”

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,“ See, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”

Now when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him,“ Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath!”

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him,“ Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”

But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him,“ Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

Jesus said to them,“ I did one miracle, and you are all amazed.Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision( though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”

Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law,“ Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”

Six days you shall labor and do all your work,but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand,“ Stand up in front of everyone.”Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.

Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.In his defense Jesus said to them,“ My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”

On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her,“ Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.”Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people,“ There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”The Lord answered him,“ You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand,“ Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.Then Jesus said to them,“ I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”He looked around at them all, and then said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored.But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death.

Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.“ He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied,“ and I washed, and now I see.”Some of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked,“ How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.

At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”But he replied,“ The man who made me well said to me,‘ Pick up your mat and walk.’”

“ If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

“ Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.

For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant.It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”

While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly,and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.”So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses.
