When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,“ Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

The Pharisees saw this. They said to Jesus,“ Look! It is against the Law to do this on the Sabbath day. But your disciples are doing it anyway!”

But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested,“ Look, your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath.”

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,“ See, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”

Now when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him,“ Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath!”

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him,“ Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”

But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

Jesus answered them,“ I did one work, and you all marvel at it.Moses gave you circumcision( not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well?Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying,“ Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?”

Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.And he said to the man with the withered hand,“ Come here.”And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.But Jesus answered them,“ My Father is working until now, and I am working.”

Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself.When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her,“ Woman, you are freed from your disability.”And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people,“ There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.”Then the Lord answered him,“ You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

On another Sabbath, he entered the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse him.But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand,“ Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there.And Jesus said to them,“ I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?”And after looking around at them all he said to him,“ Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored.But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.

Now it was a Sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.So the Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight. And he said to them,“ He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”Some of the Pharisees said,“ This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said,“ How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.

And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.So the Jews said to the man who had been healed,“ It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”But he answered them,“ The man who healed me, that man said to me,‘ Take up your bed, and walk.’”

“ If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly;

“ Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.

Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death.Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever.It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”

While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation.They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him.And the Lord said to Moses,“ The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.
