不过他要凭着信仰祈求，不要有任何疑惑，因为疑惑的人就像海中的波浪，被风吹动翻腾。

这样，我们就不再是小孩子，在人的狡诈和诡计中陷入那迷惑人的骗局，被各种教义之风摇动，飘来飘去。

约翰是一盏燃烧发光的灯，你们情愿在他的光里快乐一时。

在旷野有声音呼喊着：‘你们当预备主的道，当修直他的路！’”于是约翰就来了。他在旷野施洗，并宣讲为罪得赦免而悔改的洗礼。全犹太地区和整个耶路撒冷的人，都出来到他那里，承认自己的罪孽，在约旦河里受他的洗礼。

约翰的使者离开了，耶稣就开始对众人谈起约翰，说：“你们曾经到旷野去，是要观看什么呢？一根被风吹动的芦苇吗？你们出去，究竟是要看什么呢？一个身穿细软衣服的人吗？看哪，那些穿华丽衣服、生活放荡的人在王宫里。你们出去，究竟是要看什么呢？一位先知吗？是的，我告诉你们：他比先知还大。他就是经上记载的那个人：‘看哪，我要差派我的使者在你前头，他要在你之前预备你的道。’“我告诉你们：在女人所生的人中，没有一个比约翰更大的；然而在神的国里，再小的也比约翰更大。”所有已经受过约翰洗礼的民众和税吏，听了这话，都承认神是义的；而没有受过他洗礼的法利赛人和律法师们，就弃绝了神对他们的计划。

所以，你们要留心怎样去听；因为凡是有的，还要赐给他；凡是没有的，连他自以为有的也将从他那里被拿走。”

那时，耶路撒冷、全犹太地区和整个约旦河一带的人，都出来到他那里，

约翰的洗礼是从哪里来的？是来自天上，还是来自人间呢？”他们就彼此讨论，说：“如果我们说‘是来自天上’，他就会问我们‘那么你们为什么不相信他呢？’

他就来到约旦河周围所有的地区宣讲为罪得赦免而悔改的洗礼。正如先知以赛亚书上所记载的话：“在旷野有声音呼喊着：‘你们当预备主的道，当修直他的路！一切山谷将被填满，山岭小丘将被削平；扭曲的道将要修直，崎岖的路将要铺平。所有的人都将看见神的救恩。’”约翰对那些出来受他洗礼的人群说：“你们这些毒蛇的子孙！谁指示你们逃避那将要来临的震怒呢？

耶稣转过身来，看到他们跟着走，就问：“你们寻找什么呢？”他们对耶稣说：“拉比，你住在哪里呢？”——“拉比”翻译出来意思是“老师”。

那么，我这样打算，难道就是轻率行事吗？难道我所计划的，是顺着肉体的计划，以致在我忽是忽非吗？神是信实的，我们向你们传的话语，并没有“是”而又“非”。

在那些日子里，施洗者约翰来了，在犹太的旷野传道，说：“你们应当悔改，因为天国近了。”这约翰就是藉着先知以赛亚所说的那个人。以赛亚说：“在旷野有声音呼喊着：‘你们当预备主的道，当修直他的路！’”

你却放纵如水，必不再出众；因为你上了你父亲的床，把床玷污了。他居然上了我的床铺！
