Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

Blessed is anyone who does not give up their faith because of me.”

And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”

And he added,“ God blesses those who do not fall away because of me.”

and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by me.”

And blessed is any person who does not take offense at Me.”

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.

And blessed is[ he], whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”

Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”

But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.

Then He said to them,“ No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me:‘ Doctor, heal yourself. So all we’ve heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in Your hometown also.’”He also said,“ I assure you: No prophet is accepted in his hometown.But I say to you, there were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months while a great famine came over all the land.Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them— but to a widow at Zarephath in Sidon.And in the prophet Elisha’s time, there were many in Israel who had serious skin diseases, yet not one of them was healed— only Naaman the Syrian.”When they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was enraged.They got up, drove Him out of town, and brought Him to the edge of the hill that their town was built on, intending to hurl Him over the cliff.

He will be a sanctuary; but for the two houses of Israel, He will be a stone to stumble over and a rock to trip over, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.Many will stumble over these; they will fall and be broken; they will be snared and captured.

Then Jesus said to them,“ Tonight all of you will run away because of Me, for it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.

Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another.

From that moment many of His disciples turned back and no longer accompanied Him.

For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.

Others said,“ This is the Messiah!” But some said,“ Surely the Messiah doesn’t come from Galilee, does He?Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David once lived?”

As He was saying these things, a woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him,“ The womb that bore You and the one who nursed You are blessed!”He said,“ Even more, those who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed!”

Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!How joyful is the man the Lord does not charge with sin and in whose spirit is no deceit!

Then the disciples came up and told Him,“ Do You know that the Pharisees took offense when they heard this statement?”He replied,“ Every plant that My heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.Leave them alone! They are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

Then Simeon blessed them and told His mother Mary:“ Indeed, this child is destined to cause the fall and rise of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be opposed—

Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.As it is written: Look! I am putting a stone in Zion to stumble over and a rock to trip over, yet the one who believes on Him will not be put to shame.

Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother called Mary, and His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?And His sisters, aren’t they all with us? So where does He get all these things?”And they were offended by Him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his household.”

and A stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the message; they were destined for this.

How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.

“ The poor in spirit are blessed, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.Those who mourn are blessed, for they will be comforted.The gentle are blessed, for they will inherit the earth.Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed, for they will be filled.The merciful are blessed, for they will be shown mercy.The pure in heart are blessed, for they will see God.The peacemakers are blessed, for they will be called sons of God.Those who are persecuted for righteousness are blessed, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.“ You are blessed when they insult and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of Me.Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes.

How happy are those whose way is blameless, who live according to the Lord’s instruction!

Therefore, when many of His disciples heard this, they said,“ This teaching is hard! Who can accept it?”Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were complaining about this, asked them,“ Does this offend you?
