Blind people receive sight. Disabled people walk. Those who have skin diseases are made‘ clean.’ Deaf people hear. Those who are dead are raised to life. And the good news is preached to those who are poor.

The spirit of the sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,to announce the year when the LORD will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,to strengthen those who mourn in Zion, by giving them a turban, instead of ashes, oil symbolizing joy, instead of mourning, a garment symbolizing praise, instead of discouragement. They will be called oaks of righteousness, trees planted by the LORD to reveal his splendor.

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,

At that time the deaf will be able to hear words read from a scroll, and the eyes of the blind will be able to see through deep darkness.

“ I, the LORD, officially commission you; I take hold of your hand. I protect you and make you a covenant mediator for people, and a light to the nations,to open blind eyes, to release prisoners from dungeons, those who live in darkness from prisons.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, believe because of the miraculous deeds themselves.I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

At that very time Jesus cured many people of diseases, sicknesses, and evil spirits, and granted sight to many who were blind.So he answered them,“ Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them.

Then large crowds came to him bringing with them the lame, blind, crippled, mute, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them.As a result, the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.

The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.

In Lystra sat a man who could not use his feet, lame from birth, who had never walked.This man was listening to Paul as he was speaking. When Paul stared intently at him and saw he had faith to be healed,he said with a loud voice,“ Stand upright on your feet.” And the man leaped up and began walking.

When he had said this, he shouted in a loud voice,“ Lazarus, come out!”The one who had died came out, his feet and hands tied up with strips of cloth, and a cloth wrapped around his face. Jesus said to them,“ Unwrap him and let him go.”

And a man lame from birth was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called“ the Beautiful Gate” every day so he could beg for money from those going into the temple courts.When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, he asked them for money.Peter looked directly at him( as did John) and said,“ Look at us!”So the lame man paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.But Peter said,“ I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, stand up and walk!”Then Peter took hold of him by the right hand and raised him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong.He jumped up, stood and began walking around, and he entered the temple courts with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

So he went down and dipped in the Jordan seven times, as the prophet had instructed. His skin became as smooth as a young child’s and he was healed.

But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”

Jesus replied,“ I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in my Father’s name testify about me.

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said,“ Am I God? Can I kill or restore life? Why does he ask me to cure a man of his skin disease? Certainly you must see that he is looking for an excuse to fight me!”

And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly warned them,“ See that no one knows about this.”

“ But I have a testimony greater than that from John. For the deeds that the Father has assigned me to complete– the deeds I am now doing– testify about me that the Father has sent me.

Now when Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it,“ Mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

if we are being examined today for a good deed done to a sick man– by what means this man was healed–let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands before you healthy.

Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who carried it stood still. He said,“ Young man, I say to you, get up!”So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.Fear seized them all, and they began to glorify God, saying,“ A great prophet has appeared among us!” and“ God has come to help his people!”

After he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.And a leper approached, and bowed low before him, saying,“ Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”He stretched out his hand and touched him saying,“ I am willing. Be clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.Then Jesus said to him,“ See that you do not speak to anyone, but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

he said,“ Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him.But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and gently took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

Let the oppressed eat and be filled! Let those who seek his help praise the LORD! May you live forever!

came to Jesus at night and said to him,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs that you do unless God is with him.”

Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, those who are deaf, even though they have ears!

The LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD lifts up all who are bent over. The LORD loves the godly.

Now while Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

People were completely astounded and said,“ He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender.He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save.

“ Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds, wonders, and miraculous signs that God performed among you through him, just as you yourselves know–

So I began to shepherd the flock destined for slaughter, the most afflicted of all the flock. Then I took two staffs, calling one“ Pleasantness” and the other“ Binders,” and I tended the flock.
