當時耶穌曰、父歟、天地之主、我讚爾、因爾藏斯道於知者達者、而顯之於赤子、

爾時耶穌又言曰：『頌揚聖父、天地真主！蓋爾隱此道於智巧之人、而啟之於赤子；

And Jesus responded,“ Simon son of Jonah, you are blessed because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father in heaven.

and said to Him,“ Do You hear what these children are saying?”“ Yes,” Jesus told them.“ Have you never read: You have prepared praise from the mouths of children and nursing infants?”

Because of Your adversaries, You have established a stronghold from the mouths of children and nursing infants to silence the enemy and the avenger.

In that same hour He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure.All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal Him.”Then turning to His disciples He said privately,“ The eyes that see the things you see are blessed!For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see yet didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear yet didn’t hear them.”

The God who made the world and everything in it— He is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in shrines made by hands.

as it is written: God gave them a spirit of insensitivity, eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear, to this day.And David says: Let their feasting become a snare and a trap, a pitfall and a retribution to them.Let their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent continually.

but their minds were closed. For to this day, at the reading of the old covenant, the same veil remains; it is not lifted, because it is set aside only in Christ.

So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes and said,“ Father, I thank You that You heard Me.

Jesus said,“ I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind.”Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and asked Him,“ We aren’t blind too, are we?”“ If you were blind,” Jesus told them,“ you wouldn’t have sin. But now that you say,‘ We see’— your sin remains.

When He was alone with the Twelve, those who were around Him asked Him about the parables.He answered them,“ The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those outside, everything comes in parablesso that they may look and look, yet not perceive; they may listen and listen, yet not understand; otherwise, they might turn back— and be forgiven.”

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts.Where is the philosopher? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached.For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God’s power and God’s wisdom,because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.Brothers, consider your calling: Not many are wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,so that no one can boast in His presence.

However, we do speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory.None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

I offer thanks and praise to You, God of my fathers, because You have given me wisdom and power. And now You have let me know what we asked of You, for You have let us know the king’s mystery.

But this was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet, who said: Lord, who has believed our message? And who has the arm of the Lord been revealed to?This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said:He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they would not see with their eyes or understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I would heal them.

On that day the deaf will hear the words of a document, and out of a deep darkness the eyes of the blind will see.The humble will have joy after joy in the Lord, and the poor people will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

He answered them,“ Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.For whoever has, more will be given to him, and he will have more than enough. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.For this reason I speak to them in parables, because looking they do not see, and hearing they do not listen or understand.Isaiah’s prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: You will listen and listen, yet never understand; and you will look and look, yet never perceive.For this people’s heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn back— and I would cure them.“ But your eyes are blessed because they do see, and your ears because they do hear!

I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.But I protested,“ Oh no, Lord, God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”Then the Lord said to me: Do not say,“ I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to deliver you. This is the Lord’s declaration.

“ I assure you,” He said,“ unless you are converted and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child— this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

“ Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me— nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”

This is what the Lord says: Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What house could you possibly build for Me? And what place could be My home?

For the Lord has poured out on you an overwhelming urge to sleep; He has shut your eyes— the prophets, and covered your heads— the seers.For you the entire vision will be like the words of a sealed document. If it is given to one who can read and he is asked to read it, he will say,“ I can’t read it, because it is sealed.”And if the document is given to one who cannot read and he is asked to read it, he will say,“ I can’t read.”The Lord said: Because these people approach Me with their mouths to honor Me with lip-service— yet their hearts are far from Me, and their worship consists of man-made rules learned by rote—therefore I will again confound these people with wonder after wonder. The wisdom of their wise men will vanish, and the understanding of the perceptive will be hidden.

When Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them,“ Let the little children come to Me. Don’t stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”After taking them in His arms, He laid His hands on them and blessed them.

The heavens, indeed the highest heavens, belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it.Yet the Lord was devoted to your fathers and loved them. He chose their descendants after them— He chose you out of all the peoples, as it is today.

Then the Lord called Samuel, and he answered,“ Here I am.”He ran to Eli and said,“ Here I am; you called me.”“ I didn’t call,” Eli replied.“ Go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.Once again the Lord called,“ Samuel!” Samuel got up, went to Eli, and said,“ Here I am; you called me.”“ I didn’t call, my son,” he replied.“ Go back and lie down.”Now Samuel had not yet experienced the Lord, because the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.Once again, for the third time, the Lord called Samuel. He got up, went to Eli, and said,“ Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli understood that the Lord was calling the boy.He told Samuel,“ Go and lie down. If He calls you, say,‘ Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.The Lord came, stood there, and called as before,“ Samuel, Samuel!” Samuel responded,“ Speak, for Your servant is listening.”The Lord said to Samuel,“ I am about to do something in Israel that everyone who hears about it will shudder.On that day I will carry out against Eli everything I said about his family, from beginning to end.I told him that I am going to judge his family forever because of the iniquity he knows about: his sons are defiling the sanctuary, and he has not stopped them.Therefore, I have sworn to Eli’s family: The iniquity of Eli’s family will never be wiped out by either sacrifice or offering.”Samuel lay down until the morning; then he opened the doors of the Lord’s house. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision,but Eli called him and said,“ Samuel, my son.”“ Here I am,” answered Samuel.“ What was the message He gave you?” Eli asked.“ Don’t hide it from me. May God punish you and do so severely if you hide anything from me that He told you.”So Samuel told him everything and did not hide anything from him. Eli responded,“ He is the Lord. He will do what He thinks is good.”Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and He fulfilled everything Samuel prophesied.All Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was a confirmed prophet of the Lord.The Lord continued to appear in Shiloh, because there He revealed Himself to Samuel by His word.

But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.He called you to this through our gospel, so that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Woe to those who are wise in their own opinion and clever in their own sight.

But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.For God who said,“ Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

All the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does what He wants with the army of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. There is no one who can hold back His hand or say to Him,“ What have You done?”

Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord: Lord God of Israel who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are God— You alone— of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.

But Abram said to the king of Sodom,“ I have raised my hand in an oath to Yahweh, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

He blessed him and said: Abram is blessed by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name.

Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”

The boy Samuel served in the Lord’s presence and wore a linen ephod.

No one should deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, he must become foolish so that he can become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, since it is written: He catches the wise in their craftiness;and again, The Lord knows that the reasonings of the wise are meaningless.
